Boxboard

Boxboard

Boxboard is a gray or tan type of thick paper, usually used for packaging. Waxy containers, shoe boxes, and paper towel rolls are acceptable items for this category. However, grocery bags, cardboard, and napkins are not considered boxboard.

Reuse Options

MSU departments can send unused boxes through campus mail to the Surplus Store in an envelope or reused copy paper box. If you have more than a copy paper box submit a Pick Up Request Form (PURF). Students, faculty and staff can drop items off at the Surplus Store during regular business hours.

Where Does It Go?

When designated for reuse the item either enters the office supply exchange program or is sold through the Surplus Store. When recycled, boxboard is recycled into tissue, toweling and boxboard products.
