C&D Cardboard

Cardboard from Construction and Demolition projects typically consists of packaging materials.

Reuse Options

MSU departments can submit a PURF to have the Surplus Store pick up large quantities of clean, reusable C&D cardboard.

Where to Recycle C&D Cardboard

Contractors or project leads wishing to participate in our Construction and Demolition Recycling Program are encouraged to contact MSU Recycling at (517)355-1723 or Recycle@msu.edu in order to plan the appropriate services and recycling containers for each project site. Typically, C&D cardboard is either collected in a comingled front-load container with plastic or a roll-off container by itself for recycling.

Interior Recycling Stations

Cardboard can be broken down and stacked near a Recycling Station as long as it does not block containers or foot traffic.

Where Does It Go?

Cardboard collected through the Construction and Demolition Recycling program is typically recycled rather than reused due to the nature in which it is collected. When recycled, C&D cardboard goes through the same process as regular corrugated cardboard and is made into new cardboard or tissue paper.
