Concrete

Concrete Recycling

Concrete is a stone like construction material consisting of cement mixed with aggregate materials such as sand, gravel, glass, etc.

Reuse Options

Concrete is an item that is typically recycled rather than reused. Contractors and project leads wishing to participate in our Construction and Demolition Recycling Program are encouraged to contact us by phone or email with questions.

Where to Recycle Concrete

Contractors or project leads wishing to participate in our Construction and Demolition Recycling Program are encouraged to contact MSU Recycling at (517)355-1723 or Recycle@msu.edu in order to plan the appropriate services and recycling containers for each project site. Typically concrete will be collected in a roll-of container with any asphalt or masonry materials for recycling.

Where Does It Go?

When designated for reuse, items are redistributed through the Surplus Store. When recycled, concrete is collected through the Construction and Demolition Recycling program. It is ground into a powder and is reused on-campus.
