Mixed Paper

Mixed paper consists of lower quality paper types such as newspapers, boxboard, beverage boxes, magazines, envelopes, post-it notes, ream wrappers, cards and more. The quality of the paper fiber determines the number of times it can be recycled as well as what new materials can be made from the recycled paper fibers. If you are unsure of what type of paper fiber quality your item contains, please add your item to the mixed paper container instead of the office paper container.

Reuse Options

MSU departments can send unused or reusable mixed paper office supply items, such as post-it notes, index cards, file folders, and more through campus mail to the Surplus Store in an envelope or box. If you have more than a box worth of reusable mixed paper items, submit a Pick Up Request Form (PURF). Students, faculty and staff can drop items off at the Surplus Store during regular business hours.
