Porcelain

Porcelain is a strong type of ceramic material.

Reuse Options

Many porcelain items such as toilets and bathroom fixtures can be collected for reuse from Construction and Demolition project sites. If possible, it is best for reusable porcelain items to be collected prior to or at the start of C&D projects. Reusable porcelain items are typically collected in Gaylords or are palletized.

Where to Recycle Porcelain

Contractors or project leads wishing to participate in our Construction and Demolition Recycling Program are encouraged to contact MSU Recycling at (517)355-1723 or Recycle@msu.edu in order to plan the appropriate services and recycling containers for each project site. Typically, porcelain will be collected in a roll-off container with any asphalt, concrete or masonry materials for recycling.

Where Does It Go?

When designated for reuse, items are redistributed through the Surplus Store. When recycled, porcelain is ground into a powder and used as an aggregate in concrete on-campus.
