Wood materials currently accepted for recycling from Construction and Demolition projects include reusable clean dimensional lumber, reusable clean engineered wood, and reusable pallets and crates. Any wood materials containing fluids or hazardous waste cannot be accepted for recycling.
Due to current markets, MSU Recycling primarily only takes reusable wood from Construction and Demolition projects at this time. If possible, it is best for reusable wood to be collected prior to or at the start of any Construction or Demolition projects. Reusable wood is typically collected in a roll-off container.

Where Does It Go?
When designated for reuse, wood is redistributed through the Surplus Store. Due to current markets, non-reusable wood items are typically chipped and sent to a waste to energy plant.
